LASKAR PELANGI

An introduction to a movie and a tetra-logy novel by Andrea Hirata: LASKAR PELANGI. At first, Laskar pelangi is a novel, telling about Andrea-and-friend's childhood, added by well... some dramatization, i guess. ^____^ But those are great novels!
Title of those novels are:
Book 1: Laskar Pelangi (Rainbow's Army)
Book 2: Sang Pemimpi (The Dreamer)
Book 3: Edensor (Edensor)
Book 4: Maryamah Karpov (Maryamah Karpov) -not yet published-

Laskar Pelangi.
About 10 children: Ikal, Lintang, Mahar, Sahara, A Kiong, Syahdan, Bocek, Kucai, Trapani, and Harun, who comes from non-wealthy family, struggling to get proper education. This book mainly describing about how they struggle at their school.

Sang Pemimpi.
This book mainly telling us about Ikal and his brother struggling to reach their dream after they graduate from SD. Muhammadiyah (elementary school). Their effort takes them to Sorbonnes, Europe, granted a scholarship in University of Sorbonnes.

Edensor.
This book mainly describing what they've through while they're in college. And, telling about their journey around Europe, backpacking.

Maryamah Karpov.
Haven't published yet, from the rumor, i think this book will tell us about the searching of Ikal's first love: A Ling.

These books are Indonesian best seller. That's why, at later, they decided to make it into a movie. The movie: Laskar Pelangi, is only filming the first book. It simplify the novel but you can see the beauty of Indonesia, the simplicity of small town, some Indonesian cultures, and some laughing. ^_____^
